The Historical Survey
Farming in Auroville (AV) began in 1969, at the very beginning of the community itself. Some debate has arisen about whether farming was intended, or needs be, an integral part of the Auroville vision. It is obvious through the Mother’s purchase of farms in the early to mid 1960’s with the intention of using these farms for the Auroville community, that the original vision of Auroville included farming in its framework. º º º º º º
