While ferrocement was first used about 150 years ago and was brought to an advanced level about 50 years ago. It is only recently beginning to be used in common practice. In general, this is because, while one one hand it is less costly in materials than RCC, it is more labor intensive, and is much more sensitive to mistakes and technique, materials and application.
