Toine van MegenToine is Co-Founder of Auroville Consulting, an Auroville enterprise that facilitates a two-way flow of information and expertise between Auroville and external professionals and institutions through seminars workshops, training and consultancy services. Auroville Consulting has focused on sustainable development-related assignments since its inception in 2010. In Auroville he first worked for many years on the construction of the Matrimandir and later founded and managed several community services. He was also a founding member of the Auroville Renewable Energy Group, which later evolved into several Auroville renewable energy units and activities. For a period of 12 years, he held senior management positions in the global wind energy sector. Toine also contributes to Auroville’s infrastructure planning and development. |
Tomas TomassenTomas studied Horticulture in the Netherlands and came to India in 1983. He founded Annapurna Farm in Auroville in 1986 on a135 acres landwhich cultivates rice, millet, sorghum, roselle etc., and where crops are combined with dairy cattle, cheese production and casuarinas wood production. It is Auroville’s largest farm and community’s main rice producer and a certifiedorganic farm. Currently he is working on mechanising the farm, optimising the yields and functioning through collaboration with a Dutch agricultural university.
Uma HaimavatiUma founded Upasana at Auroville in 1997 and currently leads many social development projects. Her passion lies in using creative power of design for social change at grass route level. She is also deeply commitment to environmental protection. Projects of Upasana are living demonstrations of what is possible when design takes responsibility for serving People and the Planet. She graduated in Fashion design from NIFT ( National Institute of Fashion Technology), New Delhi and worked for 2 years as a designer before coming to Auroville in 1996.
