WELL WELL means "Women's Empowerment through Local Livelihood" WELLPaper was initiated in 2005 in South India as a tsunami-relief effort, to provide alternative livelihood to affected families from the local areas. It has gradually developed into a social enterprise model for women from neighboring villages of Auroville, South India. White Ant Studio
White Ant Studio is a design unit based in the International City of Auroville and headed by Fabian Ostner. Born and educated in Germany, Fabian has been working for several years in India and after three years of working with a renowned architectural firm as project architect in Bangalore, he has relocated to this exciting place on India’s eastern coastline, just 150km south of Chennai. The studio works on a range of architectural and interior works in varying configurations. Among the companies with whom the studio has collaborated in the recent past is the team of Fountainhead Design, a large and expanding architectural practice based in Hyderabad and Vijay Nambiar Design, an upcoming interior design studio based out of Bangalore. Windarra Farm Windarra Farm, a farm community, started 1998 on 22 acre of land. Managed by Friederike it is a hundred percent organic farm. A broad variety of vegetable like lettuce, rucola, herbs, spinaches, beans, ladyfingers and other local summer vegetables are grown at Windarra Farm. Guavas, mangos, citrus varieties and sour sop and chico are growing in the orchard. Sprinkler and drip irrigation allows efficient water use and mulching keeps the soil moist and improves the quality of the soil.Contact:
