Annapurna FarmAnnapurna Farm is located about 10 kilometers outside Auroville on the road to Mailam. It compromises of a 135 acres of land and is Aurovilles biggest farm. It works with organic methods only. Rice is the main crop grown here which is grown with rainwater catchment ponds. Apart from paddy, Annapurna also grows millets such as varagu (Kodo millet) and kuduravalli (Barnyard millet), oil seeds sesame and mustard and rosella for juice. All grains are processed on the farm. Annapurna maintains a small dairy and produces cheese.

AUREKAAUREKA is a metal workshop unit of the Auroville. Particular emphasis is placed on the manufacture of equipment supportive of sustainability - such as wind pumps; shredders and compressed stabilized earth block presses (for building) etc, though a wide variety of other work is also undertaken.

Auroville HerbariumThe Auroville Herbarium is developing up a so-called special herbarium, with it's main focus on plant species that represent the Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest (TDEF). It also incorporate collections from a wider field, including the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam and other parts of India. Today there is a main herbarium containing some 15,000 accessions, the bulk of these from the TDEF, for study by leading botanists and taxonomists and for consultation by interested Aurovilians.
Auroville Water HarvestAuroville Water Harvest is a non-profit organization working in the area of Villupuram District, Tamil Nadu to combat seawater intrusion and to promote integrated water management with people's participation. The aim is to develop efficient and sustainable remediation techniques based on deep understanding of the surface and groundwater systems. Water Harvest undertakes a wide array of activities, research and development programs pertaining to water management, with an emphasis on sustainable integrated development.
