Botanical Services Botanical Services is the commercial unit of the Auroville Botanical Gardens dedicated to bringing ecologically sustainable solutions to the commercial, private and government sectors, drawing upon the experiences of the Auroville International Township as well as the past years experience of creating the Auroville Botanical Gardens. The Auroville Botanical Garden was initiated in August 2000 on an empty piece of land, devoid of vegetation. In years since it’s establishment this 50 acre site has been transformed into a luxuriant garden that serves as an area for research in to environmentally sustainable approaches to land management as well as a location for environmental education. It is a development that has synthesized much of Auroville’s past experience in to a living example of how to create beauty in an ecologically and environmentally sustainable manner.

Buddha Garden Set up in 2000 Buddha Garden is a small farm of 12 acres growing vegetables, cashews and fruit. Buddha Garden intends to be economically, environmentally and socially sustainable. The guiding objectives of the farm are Health and well being, the physical environment and basic income and profit. It is a place where everyone is invited to come and to what it means to farm organically and to live lightly on the earth.Contact:

In order to avoid rain water run off and the washing away of fertile topsoil an extensive damn system has been develop in the canyons around Auroville. Rainwater is cached and stored behind dams from where it can percolate into the ground to recharge the local aquifers. Contact:
